Comet Neanderthal

Comet "Neanderthal" C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is visiting us after 50000 years, that's why they call it "Neanderthal", when our prehistoric ancestors may have seen it.

TheSkyLive Planetarium (link not recommendable on smartphone !)

Tomorrow, "Neanderthal" will have a magnitude >8, and when the moon is weak enough to watch the comet in about 2 weeks, it will be nearly 10; less chance to watch it naked eye.

Last time I had a comet was Neowise in 2020, it appeared with a magnitude of 6.88 on 11th July:

The turret I used for focusing the comet is the DWD German Weather Service in Hamburg city center; lots of light pollution in the town.

Hi Jan, and thanks some great information for those looking to catch a glimpse.

Below is a link to a video put together by an astrologer called Roberto Corona from his website Atronomicron, where he tries to further explore aspects of this comet - the Mars conjunction and Taurus Gemini themes. Hope you enjoy.
