Forum Rules

Copyright:
This is otherwise known as Intellectual Property. Created works belong to someone. You do not have a right to post anything or everything you see or read. Copyright applies internationally, in many cases.

Please do not post copyrighted material (images, text, etc), unless you have permission that you can demonstrate to the moderator team and/or Oliver. Sometimes permission is granted (usually a short excerpt is permitted) at the front of a book. Material in the public domain is fine.

Check your sources, do your homework - you have a legal obligation to do so. Otherwise, if in doubt, don't post it. The general rule of copyright is that it applies during the lifetime of the creator, plus another 70 years after their death (after death, the rights belong to their estate).

Forum Postings:
Please respect the Swiss laws (the site is registered in Switzerland) and any international laws that apply.

Please do not post:
Anything that could attract legal action being taken against the site. This includes libellous statements ('"named individual" is a thief", for example), and copyright (see above); Anything that could be taken as hate speech and/or being sexist, racist, ageist, anti-LGBTQ+, or that could be viewed as derogatory towards the disabled or the elderly;
Spam, self-advertisements, or content that is likely to alarm or offend other members i.e. shaming, intimidatory remarks, belittling or harassing remarks, inciting of violence, paedophilia imagery or suggestions, pornography, sexualised insults, ad-hominem abuse, etc.
Any content that could cause real world harm, for example, defamatory information; “We’re all doomed”/“end of the world” kind of scenarios that are designed to scare people. If a dire situation does arise, please discuss intelligently and do not add further fear. Astrology is not a weapon to create anxiety in others.

You may not use the forum for incitement to commit crime of any sort.

Please refrain from swearing on the site, unless you can do it exquisitely elegantly or utterly hilariously.

If you find you are being irritated by a forum member (or members) and you find it hard to bear, please remember that you have the option of an “ignore” button on your avatar profile box. This can be undone (should you wish) when you feel calmer.

You may not stalk other members in the forum or by PM.

As this is an astrology forum, substantive astrology should be evident in members' posts. On occasion, a few clarifying comments without astrology are fine, but off-topic posts should not predominate.

Please be aware that if a thread topic becomes significantly controversial, we may decide to move it to the 8h (e.g. private) section. Contributors to that thread, and those who subsequently request, may be provided access to that section for continued discussion.

Quotes and claims in posts need to be accompanied by the source, or a line of intelligent reasoning, please (a link is fine).

When replying to a post, please reply in the language in which the post was written, and appropriate to the relevant language section.

Personal Messages
PMs are private. You may not post the content of any PM in the forum.

Also, PMs are not to be used for harassment purposes of any sort, nor any group campaigns against individual members of this forum, nor for purposes of organising any crime. Nor may they be used to mount promotions, sales, social media or any other kind of campaign. If we are made aware of such content being contained in your PMs, you will be banned outright, immediately.

Do not use PMs for content that could cause real world harm.

Additionally, if a moderator, administrator or Oliver sends you a PM about your posting content, you may not post or discuss the contents on the forum. Moderators will take a dim view of any breach of this and you may be banned from the Forum without notice.

If you feel you are being harassed by PM, please reach out to the mod/admin team.

Charts:
Please anonymise if you are posting a chart from a private individual (e.g. someone not in the public domain). It is best also to obtain the individual's permission prior to doing so, if they are still alive.

Please do not:
Predict death, illness or significant harms;
Provide medical diagnoses from a member’s chart or in any forum discussion (note: the Medical Astrology section deals with charts displaying resolved medical issues, not current medical problems);
Request chart readings regarding upcoming surgery or pending medical treatment. Any such requests - on any thread, in any section - will be deleted without notice.

General:
Posting of another member's private information (e.g. contact info, address, medical information, relationship history) e.g. "doxxing" in the forum or by PM against their wishes is unacceptable, and will result in the posting member being immediately banned.

You may not use someone's chart factors as material to provide for abuse of them in a thread discussion or via PM, e.g. "your Pluto conjunct Moon is showing up, you stupid, vicious xxxx". Doing this will be viewed as abusive behaviour.

Disciplinary Actions:
Our aim is to take a gentle touch with moderation, where possible.

At first instance of infractions against the rules, we will deal with things behind the scenes via PM. If heed is not taken and we feel we need less gentle moderation, we may include public reprimand and/or deletions of posts as an option for the mods/admin team. We also reserve the right to apply temporary and outright bans, if the situation warrants.
